North Luffenham Road (2.5km)
Although this shortest route from Picks Barn is an 'out and back' walk along the narrow road to North Luffenham, it offers a quick and easy burst of exercise with some great views - the kids can jump on their bikes or even skate - but watch/listen out on the bend for any traffic.
Birders will savour the opportunity to spot various species, from small hedgerow inhabitants to large birds of prey including Red Kites & Buzzards.
Lyndon Loop (4.6km)
This popular walk begins and ends at Picks Barn and loops around Lyndon Village. Capture a view of the magnificent Lyndon Hall and enjoy the outlook across the Chater Valley towards Wing.
There are plenty of open country and woodland birdwatching opportunities en route.
Beware, the going can be soft underfoot during the winter, so bring suitable footwear and a change for afterwards. The road returning to the village has soft verges but is usually very quiet.
North Luffenham & Pilton (6.9km)
One of the longer walks from Picks Barn, but the quiet, easy-going country roads make it a great choice should you wish to avoid soft ground.
You can enjoy open countryside views of the Chater Valley from both the north and south elevations, and you'll also pass through the lovely villages of North Luffenham and Pilton.
Lyndon & Wing Village Loop (7.6km)
Start from Picks Barn, walking along various footpaths and quiet roads, appreciating the views from both sides of The Chater Valley, and also enjoy some of the beautiful sights of Wing Village.
Although not a challenging walk, it involves ascending (climbing) nearly 120m; much of that isn't particularly steep. The ground conditions can be soft underfoot, notably through the winter, so bring suitable walking boots or wellies.
Lyndon & Wing - Short Loop (5.9km)
Similar to the Lyndon & Wing Loop (above), starting from Picks Barn but cutting out many of the built-up & populated village areas.
This shaves off about half an hour and removes some 30m ascending, making it an easier walk.
